SHoP Architects and West 8 have teamed up with developer Michael Simkins to propose a new 10-acre "Innovation District" in Miami's Park West neighborhood.
Miami is an amazing city, with attractive benefits including tax savings, thriving cultural and arts institutions and great beaches and weather. We can turn Miami into Silicon Beach. Let’s seize this opportunity so Miami can take its place as a global center of innovation.
Developer addresses concerns over Miami Innovation Tower and Miami commissioners want two public hearings on the skyrise before the CRA meets again next month.
“Miami is on everybody’s radar,” Simkins said recently from his family’s Miami Beach offices. “The question that comes around is, what is needed? What do we need to move the ball? My answer to that question is a major technology company.”
Michael Simkins’ goal for the Miami Innovation District is to create an area conducive to a tech hub by providing amenities that surpasses anything that currently exists in Miami.
